Is the portrait really hand-carved, or is it AI/machine-made?
We are proudly 100% handcrafted. We do not use AI, lasers, or machine engraving. Every stroke, texture, and color is meticulously carved and painted by human hands to truly capture the unique soul of your companion.
What kind of leather do you use? Will it last?
We use premium leathers designed to age beautifully alongside you. We offer two distinct finishes:
- Classic Finish (Vegetable-Tanned Leather): A smooth, traditional surface with vibrant colors. This leather is "alive" and will develop a deep, unique patina over time.
- Matte Finish (Fog Waxed Leather): Features a soft, velvety pastel texture. Over time, the surface wax absorbs to reveal a sophisticated, subtle shine.
Why does the process take 2 to 3 weeks?
True art cannot be rushed. Because each piece is carved and painted entirely by hand from scratch, our artisans require 3 to 4 weeks of dedicated focus. This ensures every detail honors your pet's memory perfectly. We promise the wait will be worth it.
Can I use it as an everyday keychain, or is it too delicate?
While our leather pieces are handcrafted artworks, they are designed to accompany you. They are durable enough to be used on your bag or keys. However, to keep your keepsake in pristine condition, we recommend avoiding harsh friction against sharp objects (like jagged keys) and prolonged exposure to water.
How do I care for my leather keepsake?
To preserve its beauty and colors, please avoid direct, prolonged sunlight and keep it away from soaking in water. If it gets a little dirty, simply wipe it gently with a soft, dry cloth.
Customization & Photos
Can I include more than one pet? Do you only do dogs and cats?
We welcome all animals! Whether you have a dog, cat, bird, rabbit, or any other beloved companion, we can honor them. We can also accommodate up to two pets on a single custom piece.
What if my photo isn't perfect?
Choose the photo that best captures their spirit—especially that special look in their eyes. If you're unsure if a photo works, don't worry! Upload your favorite, and our team will review it. We will work closely with you to ensure it translates beautifully into leather art.
Can you add my pet's name or a special date?
That's right! We offer a complimentary back engraving service. You can add their name, a meaningful date, or a brief message to make it truly personal for you. Please leave your request in the "Personalize Your Matching Leather" section before adding to your cart.
My pet had a unique feature (e.g., a missing eye, a specific collar). Can you include it?
Absolutely. This is the true beauty of a 100% handcrafted piece. Please mention any crucial details in your order notes when you upload the photo. Our artisans will ensure these unique traits are lovingly recreated.
Revisions & Guarantees
What if the design doesn't look like my pet?
We want you to be completely at peace with your keepsake. We operate on a "co-creation" process. Before our artisans touch the leather, we will email you a digital design proof. You can review it, and we will only proceed to carving once you give us the green light.
What is your cancellation and refund policy?
Because your piece is a one-of-a-kind bespoke artwork, we use a fair, tiered "Perfect Match" guarantee:
- 100% Refund: Anytime before our artists begin your digital sketch.
- Partial Refund: If you cancel after we send the digital design proof (but before carving begins), we will refund your order minus a $50 Artist Fee to cover the hours spent on your sketch.
- Final Sale: Once you approve the sketch and the physical carving begins, the order is final and non-refundable.
What if my keepsake arrives damaged?
Your satisfaction with the final craftsmanship is our top priority. If your item arrives damaged in transit or has a major defect, please email us at support@keepeto.com within 48 hours of delivery with clear photos. We will happily provide a free replacement piece.
How will you contact me for the design approval, and what if I miss it?
We will send your digital design proof to the email address you provided at checkout (from support@keepeto.com). If we don't hear back within 48 hours, our team will send a gentle reminder. To avoid any delays in handcrafting your piece, please keep an eye on your inbox (and your spam/junk folder, just in case).
Can I change the photo after I place the order?
You can change the photo as long as our artists haven't started your digital sketch. Once the sketch process has begun, changing the photo requires a complete redesign, which will incur an additional artist fee. Please contact us immediately at support@keepeto.com if you need to make a change.
Shipping & Our Promise
Do you ship internationally? How much is shipping?
Yes, we ship worldwide! We offer Free Standard Shipping to the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, the EU, and many other regions (transit typically takes 10–15 workdays after the 3-4 week handcrafting period). We also offer Express Shipping (7-10 workdays) for $12.
(Please note: International buyers are responsible for any customs, duties, or import taxes levied by their destination country).
How does the 2% charity donation work?
We believe every memory should help warm another life. We pledge 2% of our total revenue to a dedicated animal rescue fund. This means every keepsake purchased directly helps provide care, shelter, and hope for animals still waiting for their forever homes.
I am buying this for a grieving friend. Does it come in a gift box?
Yes, every KeePetO piece arrives beautifully packaged in a premium gift box. It is fully ready to be gifted and is designed to bring immediate comfort and warmth to someone experiencing the loss of a beloved companion.
Can I pay extra to rush the handcrafting process? I need it for a specific date.
To maintain the soulful quality and highest standards of our art, we do not accept "rush" requests for the hand-carving and painting process. True craftsmanship and heart cannot be rushed. However, you can select Express Shipping at checkout to significantly speed up the transit time once your piece is completed.
